Claude and ChatGPT

Claude and ChatGPT run in the cloud, so they cannot reach your rig’s network. They reach GUPPI through the ARIS relay, one address for every rig:

https://mcp.arisastro.com/mcp

You add the address once, sign in with your ARIS account, and choose which rigs the app may reach. There is no key to copy: the relay makes one for each rig you choose and keeps it to itself.

  • Your ARIS plan includes GUPPI: Hobbyist and up. The ARIS sign-in page says so if it does not, and its Allow stays off.
  • Each rig is claimed to your account, with remote access on, and online. The relay reaches a rig through the rig’s secure connection to the ARIS cloud; see Pair for Remote Access.

The app has a guide for each: Settings → GUPPI, then Claude or ChatGPT under CONNECT A CLIENT.

Every Claude plan can add a custom connector; the Free plan allows one. Once added, it works on the web, in the desktop app and on your phone.

  1. Add a custom connector in Claude’s settings, with the relay address. Name it anything.

  2. Sign in with your ARIS account. When Claude connects, it opens an ARIS page. Sign in with the account that owns your rigs, tick the rigs Claude may reach, and press Allow.

  3. Ask Claude something. “How’s my rig?” works.

On your rigs, Claude appears as Claude (relay).

In the ChatGPT app for macOS:

  1. Connect a custom MCP. Open Settings → Plugins → MCPs → Connect to a custom MCP, choose Streamable HTTP, enter the relay address, and press Authenticate.

  2. Sign in with your ARIS account. On the ARIS page that opens, sign in with the account that owns your rigs, tick the rigs ChatGPT may reach, and press Allow.

  3. Ask ChatGPT something. “How’s my rig?” works.

The ChatGPT app for macOS registers itself with ARIS as Codex, so on your rigs it appears as Codex (relay).

On chatgpt.com in a browser, a connector to your own MCP server comes with ChatGPT’s developer mode, which needs a paid ChatGPT plan. ARIS has not checked that route yet. It takes the same relay address and the same ARIS sign-in.

The page names the app that is asking and where access goes, and says what the app starts with: “Each agent starts at Watch only on every rig: it can read the rig (status, images, logs) but cannot move or change anything until you raise its trust in ARIS, Settings, GUPPI.”

Sign in with Google, Apple, or an email and password. The page lists your rigs, each one the relay can reach already ticked. A rig it cannot reach is listed with the reason: a rig with no secure connection yet (“This rig has no tunnel yet. Link it to your account in the ARIS app first.”), a rig that has been revoked, or a computer linked for ARIS Shuttle, which has no GUPPI. Deny connects nothing.

  • Watch only on every rig. The app reads and changes nothing until you raise its trust, rig by rig, on each rig’s GUPPI page. See The trust dial and approvals.
  • The rig learns of it within a minute of Allow. The app is listed among the rig’s CONNECTED agents from then on, and its first call marks it PAIRED. There is no test button; agents prove themselves by calling.
  • One connection, every rig you ticked. The agent can ask list_rigs which rigs it reaches, and names one in each call by the rig’s name or id. With one rig it need not.
  • It renews itself while the app uses it. Each renewal checks your plan again, and a plan that no longer includes GUPPI ends the connection.

What the agent reads goes to its service, on that service’s terms, and its calls pass through the ARIS relay and your rig’s secure connection on the way.

On the GUPPI page of any rig the connection reaches, tap its row, then Revoke access. That ends the whole relay connection: this rig, and every other rig it reaches, stops accepting it within a minute. Revoke all agents on a rig’s GUPPI page ends every relay connection that reaches that rig, on every rig it reaches. To use it again, connect again from Claude or ChatGPT.

A relay key works only through the relay, never on your rig’s network; a pairing key works only on your network, never through the relay. Over the internet the rig answers only the relay:

Request denied: over the internet, GUPPI answers only the ARIS relay. Pair this agent on the rig’s local network, or connect it through the relay.
