Image Gallery
The Image Gallery collects every frame captured during your sessions into a browsable grid. Use it to review exposures, compare filters, check image quality, and manage storage.
Gallery vs. Files: Two Places Your Images Live
Section titled “Gallery vs. Files: Two Places Your Images Live”ARIS gives you two complementary views of your data:
- Photo Gallery (this page) — frames downloaded to the device you are holding. Fast to browse, works offline, and is where you review and clean up a session from your phone or tablet.
- Files — a browser for the rig’s own disk, where every frame lands as it is captured. Files are organized in a persistent Project / Target / Type / Filter tree with astronomy-standard FITS headers, grouped by night. Use Files to browse the master archive, inspect FITS metadata, and rename or delete data at the source.
There is a third place your images can live: the computer where you process. Data Sync pulls completed frames from your rigs to your own Mac or Windows machine, organized for Siril and PixInsight.
Live-stack and deep-stack outputs appear in the tree automatically: an armed live stack persists its result as a night-scoped FITS, and when a completed sequence triggers an overnight deep stack, the master FITS and a stretched JPEG drop straight into the target’s folder — no manual export step.
Thumbnail Grid
Section titled “Thumbnail Grid”Images are displayed in a 3-column grid with 4:3 aspect ratio thumbnails. Each thumbnail shows three pieces of information at a glance:
- Filter name — The filter used for the capture (e.g., L, R, G, B, Ha, OIII).
- Exposure — The integration time in seconds.
- Capture time — When the frame was taken.
Scroll the grid to browse your full image collection. The grid loads thumbnails progressively, so large sessions remain responsive.
Filtering and Sorting
Section titled “Filtering and Sorting”A filter bar sits above the grid to help you narrow down the view.
- “All” chip — Selected by default. Shows every image in the gallery.
- Per-target filter chips — One chip appears for each target you have imaged. Tap a chip to show only images from that target.
Sorting options let you control the display order:
- Newest first — The default. Most recent captures appear at the top.
- Oldest first — Reverses the order so the earliest captures appear first.
Multi-Select Mode
Section titled “Multi-Select Mode”Long-press any thumbnail to enter multi-select mode. In this mode:
- Tap additional thumbnails to add them to the selection. A checkmark appears on each selected image.
- A toolbar appears with batch actions, including delete selected.
- Tap a selected thumbnail again to deselect it.
- Exit multi-select mode by deselecting all images or tapping the cancel button.
Single Image Viewer
Section titled “Single Image Viewer”Tap any thumbnail to open the full image viewer. The viewer shows the image at full resolution with standard pinch-to-zoom and pan gestures.
- Navigation — Swipe left or right to move between images in the current filtered view.
- Metadata overlay — The viewer displays detailed information about the frame:

Tap the image or the close button to return to the grid.
Footer Stats
Section titled “Footer Stats”The bottom of the gallery screen shows a summary bar with three statistics:
- Image count — The total number of frames matching the current filter.
- Total integration time — The combined exposure time of all displayed images, formatted in hours, minutes, and seconds.
- Storage used — The disk space consumed by the displayed images.
These stats update dynamically as you change filters or delete images.
Workflow Tips
Section titled “Workflow Tips”- Review before stacking. Scroll through thumbnails after a session to spot any frames with trailing, clouds, or artifacts before including them in a stack.
- Filter by target, then sort oldest-first to replay a session chronologically and watch conditions change over the night.
- Use multi-select to clean up test exposures, failed solves, or frames taken during setup. Removing junk frames keeps your gallery manageable and your storage free.
